Gas Fireplaces in Pasco, Richland and Kennewick

Inserts, built-ins, log sets and outdoor fire pits, installed and serviced by the Pasco shop.

Chapter 01

Why a gas fireplace won't light

Most no-light calls come down to a few parts. The pilot assembly clogs with dust or a spider's nest. The thermopile that proves the pilot is lit weakens until the gas valve won't open. The burner ports fill with debris, and the flame turns yellow and lazy. Each one is a quick check for a technician with the glass off.

A dead wall switch or remote, a spark ignitor that clicks with no flame, and a blower that stopped moving heat are the other usual suspects. Air-Tech works on fireplaces it didn't install, so a call to the Pasco shop at (509) 392-2021 gets a technician looking at your unit whatever the brand. Leave the glass and the gas train to them.

Inserts, built-ins, log sets and fire pits

An insert slides into an existing fireplace: a steel firebox with a burner and logs inside, and usually the neatest way to convert a wood hearth. A built-in is a self-contained unit framed into a wall, so it needs no chimney and can go where a fireplace never stood. Both come vented or vent-free, and the venting decides how much wall and roof work the install takes.

A log set is the simplest option: ceramic logs over a gas burner, set into a firebox you already have, with gas run to it. An outdoor gas fire pit is a different job, since it needs a gas line run outside and a burner made for open air. In every case the technician checks that your gas line can feed the appliance before you buy it.

Chapter 03

Yearly service before the first cold week

A gas fireplace looks like it needs nothing, which is how dust, pet hair and a film of soot end up on the burner and the glass. A yearly visit cleans both, checks the door gasket for a tight seal and looks over the pilot, the ignitor and the valve. Book it early in the fall and the fireplace is ready before the first cold night in Richland or Pasco.

The venting gets checked too. The technician confirms the flue or vent termination is clear and tight, then runs a combustion check, because a blocked or leaking vent is how carbon monoxide gets into a room. It's the reason a fireplace that lit fine last winter still deserves an hour of attention before this one.
